Today, I\u2019m sharing several travel workout tips to make your trip more enjoyable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-five-travel-workout-tips-to-stay-fit-on-vacation\">Five travel workout tips to stay fit on vacation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no excuse for not keeping yourself fit, not even while you\u2019re on vacation. Here\u2019s how to stay in shape during your entire holiday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-plan-ahead\">1) Plan ahead<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-book your travel tickets and accommodations. <strong>Choosing where you stay may have an impact on your fitness goals<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, what floor will you be on if you\u2019re staying in a high-rise building? You may want to take the stairs vs. riding the elevator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, does the hotel or Airbnb have a pool or gym in which you can do a few reps\/sets? Do they offer onsite yoga sessions?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, it would help to <strong>plan your vacation around various excursions and activities<\/strong>. Whether you go for the touristy stuff or prefer to go off the beaten path, create an itinerary of must-visit places and things to do. Some places offer them for free or you can hire a knowledgeable local to guide you around. These tours give you some context and history of the location, so you have some stories to share when you get home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walking up the&nbsp;stairs to your room,&nbsp;walking from the hotel to nearby restaurants, or&nbsp;hiking up and down a nature trail&nbsp;will <strong>help you get a feel for the place while also burning calories<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-rent-a-bicycle\">4) Rent a bicycle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bicycles give your legs a good workout<\/strong>, don\u2019t they? And they <strong>take you much further<\/strong> than plain walking. If you\u2019re feeling adventurous, grab a map and get on that bike!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, not all places are bike-friendly. Many cities though are, especially in Europe, where the infrastructure for cycling is excellent. If you\u2019re visiting Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, or any of the cities on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/most-bike-friendly-cities-2019-copenhagenize-design-index\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">this list<\/a>, <strong>rent a bike to explore and workout <\/strong>at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-sign-up-for-activities-that-require-movement\">5) Sign up for activities that require movement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Binge-watching Netflix may be a top priority for some. But why spend your entire break in front of a tiny screen when <strong>you\u2019ve got the whole world in front of you<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vacation is the perfect time to learn new things<\/strong>! The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/vacation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">dictionary<\/a> defines it as <strong>\u201ca period spent away from home or business in travel or recreation.\u201d<\/strong> This means that you can technically call a long weekend off, a 4-day break, a week-long PTO from work, or even a year-long sabbatical, a vacation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if you want to know the <strong><em>optimal<\/em><\/strong> length for a vacation, it\u2019s actually only <strong>8 days<\/strong> according to this <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s10902-012-9345-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">2013 study<\/a> published in the Journal of Happiness Studies. Researchers found that a person\u2019s feelings of well-being increased quickly and peaked on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> day. The positive feelings though were short-lived and waned a few days after returning to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s the thing, the <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/31204484\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">more vacations<\/a> you take in a year,<strong> the lower the risk for metabolic syndrome<\/strong>! This is because during vacation, people are able to relax and not worry so much about various work-related stressors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-conclusion\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel workout need not be rigorous or excessively tiring.
